I am searching for ANY bikini type or sexy one piece crochet or knit PATTERNS. Free or to purchase! HELP!? Nothing vintaqe... more modern up to date. |
I knitted a bikini it was just 4 triangles with string to go around the hips and to use as shoulder straps. But dont forget to line it. I didnt line mine and when it got wet - I might as well have been naked- luckily there wasnt any people around.
why did you give me a thumbs down - how was i to know you couldnt wear such a brief bikini - maybe try the diet and fitness section first - |
Customized crochet patterns is there any website that will give you customized crochet patterns for free (customized as in it asks you for the crochet hook size you're using, the type of yarn, what you are trying to make, the size you need it to be, etc.)? i'm still looking for a good pattern for a crochet bikini top, and i already have what i need to make it. |
It doesn't really work that way. If you want to work off a pattern you have to be willing to use the size needle and yarn type that the pattern maker intended because there is a lot of variation in how things will look based on those two facts, and add in personal gauge variations and that would be a programming and logistics nightmare.
to make your own pattern, figure out your gauge, and take your measurements, and figure out the shapes that you need to make. Personally for a bikini I would use a G hook worsted weight yarn. I'd start by chaining enough to go around my chest for the bottom strap, and I'd single crochet about two rows for some strength. Then I'd slip stitch over enough stitches to reach to the front 1/4 of my side. Then I would start the cups, making a row long enough to cover my breast starting from the bottom, I would continue, decreasing by a stitch or two every couple rows (or however much you need to to create a triangle shape over your breast). Once I got to the top, I'd slip stitch down to the strap and repeat what I just did for the other cup. When I got to the top of that one, I'd start chaining from the tip of the triangle, making a tight chain long enough to go around my neck and I would slip it into the top of the other cup and tie it off there. I would attach a metal clasp closure of some sort to the ends of the bottom strap to ensure that it wouldn't fall off.
If you want to work with a good pre-made pattern, I seem to remember seeing a really pretty one in the Happy Hooker book. |
Free knit pattern for bikini bottoms? I am looking for only a knit pattern for a bikini bottom&there only seems to be crochet on the net. I am make a bikini bottom as a gag gift for a friend's birthday that is in May. |
i would consider myself somewhere in between a beginner and an advanced beginner, so I think you could possibly do this. I saw this bikini on knitty gritty. it's really cute. make sure to get the yarn they suggested as you can wear it in the water.

How does a crocheted swimsuit feel? Does it sag or get overly heavy when it's wet? I want to make one but if they are known for slipping around after a swim I think I'll start making a purse instead lol
Also, are there any free online patterns I can get that are -not- bikinis. I prefer a tanktop & skirt/tankini sort of suit but all the patters I'm finding are bikinis. Thanks for the help! =] |
| While a crocheted suit won't feel much different when dry, I would be concerned about "slippage" if you got it wet. That is not to say you cannot find an elasticized material that will prevent "mishaps". I would do some research, for I have seen many crocheted suits that did not sag noticeably when wet, of course the women did not walk much after getting out of the water, they chose to sit or lay down. |
